Doctor handed me antibiotics for a sinus infection and said take all ten days. What she did NOT say is what those ten days were about to do to the rest of me.
Day six I knew. Everything felt off. Not painful, just wrong. Different. And I sat there realizing nobody in my whole life ever told me antibiotics don't only go after the bacteria making you sick.
They clear the whole room. Including the good stuff you actually need down there.
Nobody warns you about the week after
What's actually happening
You've got a whole balance living in there and antibiotics don't come with a map. Your sinus infection clears up and so does the bacteria keeping your pH where it belongs.
That's why so many of us finish a round and immediately get hit with something else. It's not bad luck and it's not you being unclean. It's a balance that got knocked over.
What I do now, every time
I keep Sweet Kitty Restore Pops in the house permanently. Not because I use them constantly — because when I need them I need them THAT DAY, not in four to seven business days.
The restore pops are the pH ones. That's their whole job. Not the tightening ones, not a night-out product — the reset for when your balance gets knocked sideways. After antibiotics. After your cycle. After a stretch of gas station food and three hours of sleep.
I start them soon as the antibiotics are done, and I keep everything else gentle that week. Wash only, nothing scented, no scrubbing, cotton everything.
What else actually helps
- Water. Aggressive amounts. Boring, works anyway.
- Yogurt or a probiotic — same system, other end of it.
- Cotton underwear, sleep in nothing. Let it breathe.
- No scented anything for a week. Wipes, sprays, all of it.
- Don't douche. I know. I'm saying it out loud anyway.
One more thing
If something's getting worse instead of better, or there's burning when you pee, go get seen. Take care of yourself all the way, not halfway.
But knowing what's going on in your own body and having something in the drawer for the week after? That's what I wish somebody told me at 22 instead of me figuring it out at 29.
